Mists and Mellow Fruitfulness …  An Autumn Event Its time for Dushanbe to dress up again and dance the night away. British Embassy in Tajikistan happy to announce a glamorous charity ball will be held at the Dushanbe Sheraton Hotel on 24th of September, from 7 till late. This is the next in the series for major event raising money for ‘Bob’s Music Award’. Tickets for this special event are limited and interest is keen. Music of the New Silk Road...

Please join us on 19 March 2016 for a UNESCO sponsored international conference and evening concert on: ‘Music of the New Silk Road: from the peacebuilding perspectives of Central Asia’, Dedicated to the 100 year anniversary of Ziyodullo Shahidi. 13:00 – 17:00 Conference – National Library, 9th Floor 19:00 Concert – Opera Ballet Theatre Music in all its diversity and as an important instrument of intercultural communication has been under-studied in contemporary human studies. The conference and concert on the 19th of March aim to acquaint the international community with Central Asia’s musical heritage of the last century. We will discuss and exhibit music from across the shared creative, historical and intellectual spaces of Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Russia, China and India. This will help us reflect on the changes the old (and now new) Silk Route has undergone in the last century and the innovations it has contributed to the world’s cultural heritage. In the spirit of this region’s organic and historical cultural exchange, the conference participants will be from all over Central Asia, Russia and Europe – a rare opportunity for the meeting of minds from around the world. The ultimate aim of the conference will be to discuss how music can lead to deeper intercultural communication and understanding and how this can have far-reaching benefits to peacebuilding and diplomacy processes around the world.
